Steps to guide you towards your next couch.
Ahhhh, couch shopping. I love couch shopping. But I hear you don’t? That’s okay! It’s not everyone’s favorite thing to shop for. I also have items that I dread shopping for, like groceries. No thanks!! Since I am in the furniture business, I can do my best to point you in the right direction. If you are feeling overwhelmed with styles, colors, textures, and prices… well look no further. Let’s get into finding your next couch!
Now. I know the economy is absolute garbage. But do you know that the better quality, the longer it will last? I know you don’t because you probably are ordering furniture off Ikea and Amazon. FYI — those stores want you to come back over and over again. Now…there is NO shame in ordering from there because I’ve had both in my household at some point. So check it out below and ask yourself these questions before stopping in a furniture store. It will prepare you for whomever decides to help you out. Which reminds me… do you ever get annoyed by furniture sales people? Don’t say you do, because I’m one of them. Not all of them are out to getcha…see a future blog that we will get into together another time.
Alright now…here we gooooo!
Consider your style & purpose of the use of the couch…
Will you be using it for TV watching daily?
Will there be a ton of traffic using it?
Do you need comfort over style?
Or style AND comfort?
What styles can you pick from?
Mid-Century Modern
Traditional
Transitional
Vintage
Contemporary
What durability do I need?
Strong (I have kids or dogs/cats or maybe you’re clumsy!)
Average
I don’t care!
What colors do I like? Do I need to repaint my room for it?
Colorful
Neutral
Accent
What type of feel do I like?
Tweed
Soft/Smooth
Velvity
Texturized
Soft with some texture
Now, you can get even more detailed on what legs you want, tufting, customization, lalala…but this is a good start. Depending where you go in store, there may not be customization options. BUT if you come to me it is! It’s more of an experience then a dreaded shopping feeling. If you use these questions for your diligence, will you let me know? I would love to hear if this worked for you. Again, super simple questions but this will get you to that first step without getting extremely overwhelmed.
Good luck shopping, friends! Toodaloo.
